You can enjoy locally sourced seafood from one of the many quality restaurants situated along the beautiful Essex coast, to a mouth watering meal in one of the variety of restaurants set in the heart of our counties picturesque countryside.

One such establishment and part of the Milsom Group is The Pier Hotel & Restaurant in the historic town of Harwich.

With wonderful views across the harbour, a unique feature of The Pier Hotel is that it has two restaurants. The Ha’Penny Bistro on the ground floor and the Harbourside on the first floor.
Established in 1978 and situated on the Stour and Orwell estuaries, much of the seafood is landed in the harbour opposite the restaurant.

Located in Dedham and only a short drive from Britain’s oldest recorded town of Colchester, you will find the restaurant set amongst the very beautiful scenery of Dedham Vale. Joseph's restaurant, located in Felsted, offers traditional and modern cooking with an emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible.

If Indian cuisine is more to your liking, the award winning Jalsa Ghar restaurant situated in the ancient market town of Great Dunmow, could well be worth a visit.
Serving traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes since 1998, the restaurant is actually under the same thatched roof as the Queen Victoria pub.


At the site of the former popular Headley Arms public house, the owners of the Headley Spice have resurrected, renovated and reinvigorated the building to bring a unique and exciting offering of traditional Indian cuisine.

The dining area has been specially designed to cater for couples and groups alike, with large booths and comfortable leather seating across the restaurant. The lounge provides an escape from the crowds, an ideal sanctuary to wind down with friends and enjoy the drinks from the bar. Boasting a 100 space car park, this popular Brentwood escape will be the perfect venue to cater for the Essex locals, as well as those from across London and the south-east.

Continuing with the Asian theme, if you are looking for oriental buffet & grill type Restaurants in Essex, one of the modern Izumi restaurants in Brentwood or Maldon could be for you. With 30 or more dishes served for lunch and 60 or more dishes served for dinner, you will not be spoilt for choice.

What used to be The Three Horseshoes public house is now home to the Hoyzen Oriental Seafood Grill in East Hanningfield. Once you have decided on the type of fish or seafood you require, you can then choose the cooking style.

The Boathouse Restaurant in Dedham is well known to many locals and visitors as the place to hire a rowing boat or enjoy an ice cream down by the river, but there have been quite a few changes since Cameron & Claire bought the business back in March 2002.

In September 2002 after completing the first ‘season’ in Dedham, Cameron & Claire closed the Café and made the transformation from Café to Restaurant. A bar was built, a complete new kitchen added, as was gas central heating. New fixtures and fittings completed the final style of modern and contemporary yet warm and inviting.
